Frequently Asked Questions

How often should I get a check up and when should I first bring my child to the dentist?

Regular dental check-up’s should be done every 6-12 months. Your child’s first dental visit should be as early as 2 years (when their first teeth erupt). Positive dental experiences at an early age ease the anxiety associated with dental visits later on. Regular check up’s encourage good oral hygine and are a preventative measure to ensuring a happy and healthy smile.

What about sterilization?

Your health and peace of mind are always our primary concern. After each patient visit the treatment area is thoroughly disinfected. We ultrasonically clean and heat-sterilize all instruments. Sterilized instruments are used for each patient. Our staff wear masks and gloves during all procedures and patient health is our main concern.

What are the advantages of dental implants?

It is important for both your health and self-esteem to replace missing teeth. Not only do you loose chewing ability when a tooth is lost, but unreplaced teeth can cause other teeth to be stressed, lost or crowded and can create further problems. Dental Implants are a good solution to restoring your smile and have many added health benefits.

What is the best way to whiten teeth?

Products sold in stores don’t have the same strength as dental grade whitening. Teeth whitening should always be done under the strict supervision of a dental professional. Phillips is well trusted and a preferred brand of dental whitening for most patients and in-chair whitening can acheieve up to 8 shades lighter. Come in to discuss whitening options with one of our dentists.

Can Medicare be used to pay for dental treatment?

The child dental benefit scheme is a government scheme which entitles eligible children between the ages of 2-17years old to receive dental treatment to the value of $1000, bulk billed through medicare. Our dentists all participate in this scheme and we can claim directly from Medicare for your child’s dental treatment.
Services that are eligible under the medicare scheme are exams, x-rays, cleaning, fissure sealing, fillings, root canals, extractions and partial dentures. Benefits are not however, paid for orthodontic work or cosmetic dental work.
